Complete Core FAQs
Who is a physical therapy evaluation appropriate for?
Every woman can benefit from an evaluation to understand their pelvic floor and deep core muscles and make sure that they are working in a healthy way to provide support during activities of daily living and exercise. But certainly an evaluation is needed if something feels off in your body around or inside the pelvis, if you feel disconnected from your abdominals and pelvic floor, you are struggling with pelvic pain/lower back pain, you are having bladder leakage, you have urinary urgency and frequency or sex is painful.
How soon can I start physical therapy postpartum?
If you are having pain and difficulty moving around you can make an appointment for physical therapy right away. We can do a lot of work with your body mechanics, positioning, how to change positions safely, postural education, looking at how you are caring for your baby, and self care as you are healing from birth. You can begin pelvic floor therapy after you have been cleared by your doctor or midwife at the 6 week follow up visit.
What physical therapy conditions do you treat?
I specialize in women’s health issues surrounding pregnancy and postpartum. But these issues are not limited to only pregnancy and postpartum, I work with women at all stages of life.
These include: Pelvic Pain, Urinary Incontinence, Pelvic Organ Prolapse, Diastasis Recti, C-Section Scar Care, Pregnancy Related Pain, Pelvic Floor/Core Weakness, Bowel & Bladder Issues, Lower Back Pain.
How long do you typically see patients?
Depending on the complexity of the condition treatment is between 6 to 12 visits. This is in conjunction with a daily home program including activity/behavioral modification and injury prevention. Treatment sessions are spaced out with a time frame that makes sense for each patient's individual needs.
Is physical therapy covered by my insurance?
I am an out of network physical therapy provider. All payments are due at the time of service. If you do not have out of network benefits treatment will not be reimbursed. If you have out of network benefits, you will be reimbursed the amount of your co-insurance (this varies depending on your individual insurance) once you have met your deductible.
I recommend you call your insurance and inquire about your benefits. Do you have out of network benefits? What is the percentage that will be reimbursed? How many visits do you have per calendar year?
Who are your Franklin Method® Workshops for?
The workshops are for anyone interested in learning more about their body. We look at the design and function of our anatomy and embody it. We look at how the bones move and feel this movement (bone rhythms) in our body to increase our awareness and understanding of where our body is in space. It gives us a sense of balance between muscle groups, effortlessness in posture, improves breathing, and reduces tension.
Who are your group classes for?
My group classes are for women at all stages of life. Complete Core works on the foundation for your body. It is designed to help you connect with your pelvic floor and deep core muscles through breathing and feel a connection with your core through postural exercises and full body functional movement.
How is your group class different from other “Core” classes?
The class is unique that it teaches you awareness and how to understand the specific needs of your body. The class includes very targeted postural exercises and full body, dynamic movement. There is individual instruction and technique in every class. I have a sense of everyone’s ability and restrictions. You feel as if the workout was tailored for you even though you are in a group experience.
